What is the SATW Institute?
Sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers, the leading organization for travel journalists in North America, the SATW Institute exists to guide the conversation about best practices in travel journalism today, to help would-be journalists to understand the field of travel journalism, and to help journalists stay on the cutting edge of industry changes. The SATW Institute serves all aspiring and practicing travel journalists, from beginners to seasoned pros searching for new opportunities.
The theme for our 2011 in-person event is “Energize Your Travel Journalism Career in One Marathon Day.” Six faculty members and 100 select registrants will gather to ponder: How can the modern travel journalist connect with an audience and more effectively earn a living?
Instruction will occur 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by the Grand Travel Networking Party from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where participants will mingle with spokespeople from Bay Area innovators shaping the future of travel journalism, such as Google, Apple, and Facebook.
Cost is $195 ($145 for SATW members).
Registration will be limited to the first 100 applicants.
Sponsorship participation is available.
