Chris Baker

Travel writer and photographer, book author, public speaker, consultant and guide.

Recipient of "Travel Writer of the Year" awards from both the Jamaica Tourist Board and Caribbean Tourism Organization, Chris focuses his writing and photography on the Caribbean and Latin America.  

He is a regional expert on Cuba, and also writes frequently on natural sciences and tourism issues.

Chris has written for more than 150 publications worldwide including Caribbean Travel & Life, Elle, Islands, National Geographic Traveler, National Wildlife, Newsweek International, The Robb Report, Saveur, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, and Christian Science Monitor, as well as the in-flight magazines of more than two dozen airlines. 

His many books include best-selling guides to Cuba, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas for such publishers as Frommer's, Lonely Planet, Macmillan, and National Geographic Society, plus the award-winning literary travelog, Mi Moto Fidel: Motorcycling Through Castro's Cuba.

Chris' photography has appeared on the front covers of numerous publications worldwide, as well as gracing his recent coffee-table book, Cuba Classics: A Celebration of Vintage American Automobiles.

He is additionally an acclaimed public speaker and has appeared on CNN, Fox Magazine, NBC, National Geographic Channel, National Public Radio and countless other TV and radio outlets. He has addressed the National Press Club, the World Affairs Council, and National Geographic Society as part of its "Live... from National Geographic" series, as well as frequently lecturing aboard cruise ships.
