Herb Hiller

  Author, travel writer, founder and chairman of the Institute for Travel Writing & Photography

Herb has written for The Atlantic Monthly, National Geographic Traveler and The Washington Post among magazines and newspapers.

Herb also has 35 years experience in initiating and marketing ideas in travel including start-up of the Caribbean Tourism Research Center, Barbados; the Florida state bicycling movement and Florida bed-and-breakfast movement.

He is the author of the Guide to the Small and Historic Lodgings of Florida (Pineapple), Florida (Fodor's), Season of Innocence (co-authored, Pickering), and work for Insight and Nelles.

His Highway A1A; Florida at the Edge (University Press of Florida, 2005, Gainesville) is a milestone work in the debate over tourism, development, ecology and the future of Florida.

Herb chairs the SATW Institute For Travel Writing & Photography, which he founded.
